Domestication Push for High-End Encoders Gains Momentum in China

Chinese encoder manufacturer Demochuan is advancing its strategy to localize high-end photoelectric encoder technology, a critical component for motion control in automated systems. The company is focusing on three core areas: achieving control over key technologies like grating engraving and signal processing algorithms, developing comprehensive product suites to replace single-item imports, and fostering an integrated industrial ecosystem with servo motors and controllers. Recent product launches include a 25-bit multi-turn absolute optical encoder and a 23-bit optical encoder for micro servo motors, both now in mass production. Demochuan plans to showcase new standardized encoder chips and ODM445 product suites at upcoming international trade shows, including IREX 2025 in Tokyo and SPS in Germany. The push aims to support China's manufacturing upgrade in sectors like CNC machine tools and semiconductor manufacturing.
